Piney Woods Fair Grand Champions

Cason Cobb, 3rd grader at 91ԭ��, was named grand champion in the market broiler competition. Cason raised the broilers for 6 weeks, providing all the care needed to raise chickens with the most meat. He competed against 45 other competitors.

Elizabeth Nichols, 1st grader at 91ԭ��, was named grand champion in the breeding buck competition. Elizabeth cared for the rabbit for two months before the competition and competed with over 50 other children.

Congratulations, Cason and Elizabeth! We are so proud of you!

4-H Officers Hard at Work

The 91ԭ�� 4-H club is in full swing. The club’s officers recently met to plan their monthly meeting. Pictured are club president Abby Powers, along with officers Sydney Cunyus, Ethan Fairley, Clayton Terrell, and Caroline Alders. These students are providing excellent leadership for their fellow 4-H club members.

Students Shine at 4-H Roundup

The Texas State 4-H Roundup, held in early June at Texas A&M University, features many competitions and more than 2,500 competitors. In order to be invited to compete at the state level, students must have placed either 1st or 2nd at the district competition, each of which comprises several counties. Skeeter Gilbreath, Kaden Harman, Jake Hill, and Jess Hill, who all placed 1st at district, were invited to the state competition and competed, representing 91ԭ��’s club for the first time.

We are so proud of these four 91ԭ�� students, who all won awards at this year’s competition:

Kaden Harman: Solo Instrumental, 3rd Place
Skeeter Gilbreath and Jess Hill: Dramedy, 4th place
Jake Hill: Public Speaking, 5th place

Also, thank you to Mrs. Jeni Gilbreath, who served as chaperone for the competition.

4-H Kickoff

What a great way to kick off 91ԭ��’s brand new 4-H Club! 65 students and more than 20 parents and teachers attended the club’s first meeting, along with Mrs. Claudann Jones. Students and parents heard the many ways they can get involved and serve the community through 4-H.
