Congratulations, All-Region Musicians!

Six 91ԭ�� students were recently selected for the Texas Music Educators Association Region 4/21 orchestras.

Tenth grader Shelby Rotramel and ninth grader Mason Baker were selected from dozens of violinists and bassists who auditioned for the All-Region high school orchestra. Eighth graders Karys Alders, Haylee Harmen, and Holden Kelly were selected for the middle school orchestra violin section. Seventh grader Cate Baker was selected for middle school viola.

91ԭ�� High Schoolers Visit Austin

The 91ԭ�� 9th and 10th grade classes traveled to Austin on February 15-16, 2017, to attend Nacogdoches-SFA Days at the Texas State Legislature. The students met State Senator Robert Nichols and State Representative Travis Clardy. The group also toured the capitol and visited two museums. This trip has become a tradition for 91ԭ�� students, who study Government in the 10th grade and then are able to see government in action at a state level. We are so proud of our students, who represented their families and their school so excellently.

The students are pictured below with their Government teacher David Henry, 91ԭ�� parent and board Vice-Chairman David Alders, and State Rep. Travis Clardy. Appearing in the second picture below are Lance Vermillion and Kilyn James.

A Visit to D.C.

91ԭ�� Latin teacher Lara Sowell recently visited Washington, D.C., in service to the National Federation of the Blind. While there she visited the office of our U.S. Representative and friend, the Hon. Louie Gohmert. If you look closely, you can see a 91ԭ�� pennant on the wall.

Student Eagle Awards

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2016 Student Eagle Awards: in the 5th-6th grades, Anna Claire Powers; in the 7th-8th grades, Abigail Powers, and in the 9th-12th grades, Luke Higginbotham.

Nominated by their teachers and chosen by the administration, these students distinguished themselves by their exemplary conduct, academic achievement, and positive attitude toward school. We thank the Lord for them and for their families.

Junior high girls take 3rd in area tournament

Congratulations to the 91ԭ�� Junior High Girls Basketball team, who competed in the CSAC basketball tournament yesterday in Longview. The team won two of three games to win third place in the tournament.

The team competed with intensity and Christian character, and we are so proud of these ladies!

Congratulations to our high school music students who auditioned at the TAPPS regional contest yesterday.
ALL of our students earned either a 1 (superior) or a 2 (excellent) rating!

And we have 8 soloists advancing to state in March. We are very proud of all of them!

And we are very thankful for our own Miss Emily Alders for accompanying three of our students.

Seed Survivor Mobile Classroom Visits 91ԭ��

We were so happy to welcome the Seed Survivor mobile classroom to campus on January 9. The mobile classroom was sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau and Agrium Inc. Kindergarten through 5th graders visited the exhibit and learned about the foods they love to eat and the plants that make them possible. They also learned about the science behind growing healthy plants. Students even planted sunflower seeds in a cup of soil to take home.

Students and teachers really enjoyed the exhibit, despite the cold, rainy weather.
